C. Routine Activities and Continued Skill Building:
Along with the new assignments posted above, it is very important that the following skills be built into a daily routine.
Reading (20-25 minutes everyday)
Read "a good fit" book. Be sure you are interested in your book and work on increasing your stamina.
During reading, students should focus on comprehension strategies such as: visualization, making connections, questioning and making inferences.
Writing (20 minutes everyday)
Practice writing skills on a daily basis- keeping a journal or using writing prompts. Don't forget your "letter writing" skills by sending emails your teacher.
Math facts (10 minutes everyday)
Our on-going goal is to improve our fact fluency of multiplication and division facts. Xtra math has been updated to focus on division questions. If needed, there are printable flashcards in the "Additional" tab. When practicing your facts, sort them into three piles:
1. Answered facts automatically
2. Used a strategy, but answered in under 5 seconds
3. Has difficulty answering questions efficiently
*Spend extra time practicing pile number 2 and (especially) 3
